Kendrick named
NIB-12 West MVP

Sterling senior point guard Micah Kendrick was named the NIB-12 West Most Valuable Player by the conference’s coaches.

Kendrick was joined on the first team by classmates Sean Gingrich and Tyler Willman. Junior forward Aidan Shore received honorable mention notice for the Golden Warriors.

Three Dukes, three Rockets and a Hawk earn all-BNC honors

Rock Falls’ duo of senior Austin Meiners and junior Cade Nailor, as well as Dixon junior Beau Bailey, were tabbed as first-team selections to the Big Northern All-Conference Team.

Dixon junior guards Derian Duncan and Oscar Van Sickle were named to the second team along with Rock Falls senior Dylan Leaf.

Oregon sophomore Trey Woolsey received honorable mention notice.

Four locals earn unanimous Three
Rivers honors

Newman sophomore Devon House was unanimously selected to the Three Rivers East first team, while Fulton’s senior duo of Tyler Bruggenwirth and Cody Sanderson and Erie junior Josh Hammer were unanimous selections to the Three Rivers West first team.

Bureau Valley’s Andrew Petros and Kale Barnett were also first teamers in the TRAC East, while Morrison senior Ben Brackemyer was tabbed a first-team TRAC West performer.

Newman’s senior duo of Cade Gorzny and Travis Williams were selected to the TRAC East second team along with Prophetstown senior Logan Henrekin and Bureau Valley senior Corbin Endress. Fulton junior Keegan Kloepping was a second-team TRAC West selection.

Prophetstown’s Brayton Lavine and BV’s Nate Paup received honorable mention notice in the TRAC East, and Morrison’s Britt Ottens and Erie’s Kyle
Stover were TRAC West honorable mention picks.


Nine locals land TRAC first-team nods

Erie-Prophetstown and Fulton had three wrestlers apiece earn first-team honors on the Three Rivers All-Conference Team.

The Panthers’ Cameron Abell (113) and state qualifiers Garrett Passmore (160) and Mat Garrison (170) were first-team selections. The Steamers’ state-qualifying trio of Tyler Fleetwood (132), Eli Pannell (195) and Taylor Fleetwood (285) were first-team honorees.

Newman’s Kyle Tunink (120) and Brody Ivey (145) and Morrison’s Colton Linke (106) earned first-team honors. For the

CB Sherman lands deal with 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers and free-agent cornerback Richard Sherman agreed to a three-year contract that was officially announced by the team Sunday.

The signing comes after Sherman was released by Seattle on Friday. The deal is worth $27.15 million.
