Track & field: Sterling's Long & Allen, Dixon's Forrest all win 3 events each at Westwood


Sterling’s Long, Allen win 3 events each

Sterling senior Erin Long won three events in the ‘A’ division at Saturday’s First Chance ABC Invite, hosted by the Golden Warriors at Westwood Sports Complex.

Long won the 60-meter dash (7.99 seconds), 400 (1:06.17) and long jump (16 feet, 9 1/2 inches), and was joined by three teammates who were also multiple winners. Rainbow Allen won the ‘A’ 200 (28.33), the ‘B’ 60 (8.43) and the ‘C’ pole vault (6-6); Sophia Brown won the ‘B’ 400 (1:09.81) and the ‘B’ triple jump (29-2 1/4); and Katelynn Trobaugh won the ‘C’ 400 (1:13.03) and the ‘C’ long jump (13-8).

The Dixon Duchesses swept all three top spots in two different events. Taylor Renkes (A, 5:42.11), Kira Goral (B, 5:52.25) and Jade Miller (C, 5:53.38) all won the 1,600, while Tayla Schwarz (A, 40-7), Sarah Stegbauer (B, 33-1) and Alyssa Kruger (C, 30-4) won all three shot put divisions.

Bailee Fortney led Rock Falls with a win in the ‘A’ 800 (2:32.66), and she joined Bryahna Ganther, Alex Gomez and Erin Porter to win the ‘A’ 3,200 relay (10:23.46).

Other local ’A’ winners were Sterling’s Samantha Hibbard in the 60 hurdles (9.45), Macie Gebhardt in the high jump (5-2) and Zaina Rumbolz in the pole vault (8-0).

In the ‘B’ flight, additional wins came from Sterling’s Adalynn Hawkins in the 200 (29.12), Zoe Ryan in the pole vault (6-6) and Samantha Smith in the long jump (14-4); Dixon’s Grace Johnson in the 800 (2:34.57); and Rock Falls’ Macayleigh Smith in the 60 hurdles (10.89), and the 800 relay team of Leighah Conkling, Kirsten Schick, Rosa Ibarra and Samantha Royer (1:57.00).

Other ‘C’ flight winners were Dixon’s Taylor Hills in the 800 (2:48.70) and Emily Lynch in the 60 hurdles (10.54), and Sterling’s Hannah Mobarak in the 200 (29.27).


Dixon’s Forrest a triple-winner at Westwood

Dixon’s Brayden Forrest won three events at Saturday’s First Chance AFC Invite at Westwood, taking the ‘A’ triple jump (38-8 1/2), the ‘B’ 60 hurdles (8.51), and running the leadoff leg of the ‘A’ 800 relay (1:32.24); he ran that race with Jared Harrison, Tyler Christian and Josh Dallas.

That trio swept the 200, as Harrison won the ‘A’ flight (23.32), Dallas took the ‘B’ flight (23.92), and Christiansen won the ‘C’ flight (24.43).

Also for Dixon in the ‘A’ flight, Arthur Cox won the 60 in 7.11 seconds, and the quartet of Jonah Fulton, Andrew Lohse, Collin Grady and Lukas Wedekind took the 3,200 relay (8:30.77).

Sterling got ‘A’ wins from Jake Gebhardt in the 1,600 (4:28.24), Walter Holcomb in the high jump (6-0) and Marcus Shetter in the shot put (42-9 1/4). Rock Falls’ A-flight wins came from Michael Austin in the 60 hurdles (9.17) and Tyler Soltow in the pole vault (10-7).

Other local winners in the ‘B’ flight were Dixon’s Kirby Jericho in the 400 (57.45) and the quartet of Ethan Fox, Sebastian Quintana, Brayden Lafferty and Kade Frey in the 800 relay (1:42.20); Sterling’s Isaiah Moorman in the 1,600 (4:42.50); and Rock Falls’ Nathan Baldwin in the pole vault (9-6).

Additional ‘C’ winners were Sterling’s Jahshawn Howard in the 60 (7.42), Ruben Leal in the 400 (57.73), Mikio Martinez in the 1,600 (4:49.81) and Kerry Reynolds in the shot put (45-2 1/4); Rock Falls’ Jalen Johnson in the 60 hurdles (9.63); and Dixon’s Bryce Christiansen in the pole vault (8-6).
