Support for ag fundraiser appreciated

On Feb. 16, Sauk Valley College Foundation presented the Chocolate Rendezvous in support of SVCC’s Agriculture program.

Thanks to the generosity of all those who attended, this one evening earned our Sauk Agriculture program $15,000 for scholarships, technology and equipment.

With 425 tickets sold, active citizens from across the Sauk Valley enjoyed more than 40 scrumptious desserts, mouth-watering hors d’oeuvres from Sterling’s Smoked on 3rd BBQ and Bistro Catering Company, gourmet shakes from Dixon Culver’s, wine and bourbon pairings, hand-crafted coffee, spirits, dueling pianos and valet parking.

Sponsorships from Sauk Valley Bank, Selmi’s Greenhouse, Farmer’s National Bank, Melton Seed, Legacy Prints, Compeer Financial, Dixon Culver’s, Ag Farmacy, Tettens Grains, CGH, Selmi’s Florist and Bridal, and Grot Imaging Studio made Sauk’s Chocolate Rendezvous possible.

Further, we enlisted the assistance of honorary chairmen from around our region to promote the event. Our energetic Foundation Board sold tickets and contributed the vision that played a vital role in making the evening such a success.

Guests may have noticed that missing from the evening were silent auctions, cake runs, raffles, and pleas for more money. We decided early on that Sauk’s Chocolate Rendezvous would be a “red tie” event, meant to give our region a chance to dress in fineries and enjoy an elegant evening free from additional fundraising.

The Foundation is dedicated to the Chocolate Rendezvous for the next 2 years, and we are confident this signature event will continue to benefit the students and programs at SVCC. Again, thank you to all who attended this year, and to you and all in the Sauk Valley, please consider saving the date for next year’s event Saturday, Feb. 17, 2019.
