STERLING – Cpl. John G. Krebs, 19, of Sterling, died Tuesday, July 11, 1950, in a fierce battle with North Korean forces during the Korean Conflict. John was born December 11, 1930, the son of Ferdinand (Delores) Krebs.
Survivors include two sisters, Norma of California and Mary Galligan of California; two nieces, Deretta (Jimmie) Perkins of Ennis, Texas, and LaRhonda (George) Moskos of California; two nephews, Michael Krebs of Oklahoma and Kenneth Krebs of California; and a sister-in-law, Penny Jones of Ennis, Texas.
John was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, George Krebs.
Graveside services with military honors will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May, 17, 2019, at Calvary Cemetery in Sterling, with Jeff Coester officiating. A luncheon will be held after the graveside service at Sterling American Legion Post 296.
Memorial have been established to Rolling Thunder, Wounded Warrior Project, Sterling American Legion, and Rock Falls American Legion.
Arrangements were completed by the Schilling Funeral Home & Cremation in Sterling.
