Illinois CancerCare to open clinic July 23

DIXON – Peoria-based Illinois CancerCare, a private oncology practice, is opening a clinic July 23 downtown at KSB Town Square Centre.

The clinic will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday and Friday. Oncologists Wenqing Zhang will see patients on Tuesday, and Madhuri Bajaj on Friday.

Zhang, who joined the clinic this year, specializes in breast cancers; chronic lymphocytic, chronic myeloid and hairy-cell leukemia; and myelofibrosis and polycythemia vera, which are forms of bone marrow cancer.

Bajaj, who has worked at the clinic for 7 years, specializes in carcinoids; small bowels; hematology; oncology; the genitourinary system; prostates; and colorectal, renal, skin and ureter and bladder cancers.

The clinic may expand operations in the future, Director of Marketing Tonda Thompson said.

Illinois CancerCare has 12 other locations; the nearest is in Princeton. Both Zhang and Bajaj also work its main clinic in Peoria, and Bajaj also sees patients in Peru.
