Timber Creek to open Saturday

DIXON – The Timber Creek golf course is reopening its doors Saturday.

The more than 100-year-old course and banquet facility, formerly the Dixon Country Club, closed last year after owners Ron Keith and his son, Brett, were unable to find a buyer willing to keep the course open.

The Keiths signed a multiyear lease in April with Brenda and Rick Humphrey, owners of Humphrey Show Cattle in Dixon, for the 136-acre property; the Humphreys have the option to buy the course at 729 Timber Creek Road at any time.

Work has been ongoing the last few months to clean up, trim, mow, and maintain the property, which includes the 18-hole course, a banquet center, Bogey’s Bar and Grill, an outdoor swimming pool and tennis courts.

The green isn’t yet ready for full regulation play, so there’s going to be a two-putt rule in place until they get it into playable shape, Rick Humphrey said Thursday.

“We’ve been looking forward to this day, and we hope people understand that it’s going to take time to get everything back in pristine condition,” he said.

Bogey’s will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and there will be limited supplies in the pro shop, but the pool won’t be open this year. The course will be open from 6:30 a.m. to dusk and a new website is in the works.

“We’re excited to open up the course for the community and a place to stop by for a good meal and good scenery,” Humphrey said. “We look forward to being part of the community.”
