LYNDON – A Lyndon husband and wife were found dead in their home Saturday, Whiteside County Sheriff John Booker said.
Autopsies will be conducted on Thomas E. Whitney, 78, and his wife, Dawn R. Whitney, 53, in the next few days.
The sheriff's dispatch center received a call at 1:35 p.m. Saturday for a welfare check in the 100 block of East Commercial Street. When deputies arrived, they found the home was secured, looked through a window and saw a man on the bed.
Prophetstown police helped the deputies enter the home, and the deputies discovered Thomas Whitney dead in the bedroom. They also found Dawn Whitney dead in the bathroom.
The cause of death for both is unknown, and the sheriff's department and Whiteside County Coroner's Office are investigating.
