To the Editor:
To paraphrase the Declaration of Independence, self-evident truth prescribes we are all given by our creator unalienable ("essential") rights including life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness.
To secure these rights, governments are instituted, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. If any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or abolish it and institute new government when necessary.
Even though experience hath shewn we're all more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right ourselves by abolishing the evil to which we're accustomed, when a long train of abuses and violations pursuing the same object, tyranny over the state of Illinois, it "is" our right, it is our"duty" to alter or abolish such government by electing new leadership to secure our "rights" of life, liberty, pursuit of happiness, and uphold the Constitution of the United States of America.
Lawsuits to stop Gov. Pritzker are appropriate beginnings. It's imperative to open our state economy "now" not later. We "flattened the curve" as we were advised, "social distancing," "hand washing," and "not touching our face." Masks probably helped.
Please. Please consider, basic common sense dictates drive-up service is produced in kitchens where distancing is compromised, and most of us shopped grocery stores, drug stores, Walmart, Farm & Fleet, etc, etc, passing others within inches the whole time while flattening the curve.
Obviously, shutting down our economy is not necessary. Distancing, cleaning, caution, etc., is great. Please tell Gov. Pritzker that we, the governed, do not "consent " to his destruction of our economy by bankrupting our merchants. Google, contact the governor/voice an opinion. Pass the word on Facebook and Twitter. Open states have reduced COVID-19 cases.
God bless you and keep us safe.
