To the Editor:
Adam Kinzinger's’ problem is that he serves his party first and represents the people last.
Representatives take an oath to uphold the Constitution and serve the American people. There is no oath to party affiliation.
As the Republican Party shifts the tax dollars of working Americans to the wealthiest who pay far too little, if any, taxes, Kinzinger is right there with them. The top tier of the economy is indeed doing well, but those of us in the middle and bottom pay the price. Kinzinger’s voting record has made it evident that he is fine with this, and has proved himself to be dangerously partisan.
Kinzinger consistently votes with a president who lies, divides, creates hate, shifts blame, and insults the Constitution and all the principles for which it stands – all the qualities and characteristics we do not want our kids and grandkids to emulate. This administration has rescinded health insurance for millions, sided with Wall Street over Main Street, promoted racism and xenophobia, and intruded on our civil liberties.
As we approach the end of the president’s first term, we are witnessing what a country under such leadership is like. Is this really what we want? If not, let’s do our part in IL-16 to remove both Trump and his sidekick Adam.
